An important difference between TiddlyWiki inline scripting and conventional embedded javascript techniques for web pages is the method used to produce output that is dynamically inserted into the document: in a typical web document, you use the {{{document.write()}}} (or {{{document.writeln()}}}) function to output text sequences (often containing HTML tags) that are then rendered when the entire document is first loaded into the browser window.

I am a PhD student at the [[University of Groningen|http://www.rug.nl]] at the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences. I started my PhD studies in October 2008 under the main supervision of [[Prof. Peter de Jong|http://www.rug.nl/staff/p.j.de.jong/index]] and the co-promoters [[Prof. Willibrord Weijmar Schulz|http://www.rug.nl/staff/w.c.m.weijmar.schultz/index]] and [[Dr Janniko Georgiadis|http://www.rug.nl/umcg/faculteit/disciplinegroepen/neurowetenschappen/PhDprojectsAnat/georgiadis]].  The core areas of interest of this research group include Sexual Dysfunction, fMRI, and Automatic Associations.

!Academic Experience 

I have earned my MSc in Psychiatry and Mental Health Studies at the [[Institute of Psychiatry|http://www.iop.kcl.ac.uk/]], [[King's College London|http://www.kcl.ac.uk/]] in January 2009. The title of my MSc thesis is "Magnetic Resonance Imaging study of the putamen in twins concordant or discordant for schizophrenia" conducted under the supervision of [[Dr. Ulrich Ettinger|http://www.iop.kcl.ac.uk/staff/profile/default.aspx?go=10695]] and [[Dr Marco Picchioni|http://www.iop.kcl.ac.uk/staff/profile/default.aspx?go=10740]].

Moreover, I have conducted my BSc (Hons) in Psychiatric Nursing at the [[University of Malta|http://www.um.edu.mt/]] in 2002. This was a 3 year course carried out in parallel to my full-time job (see below). I also completed a higher diploma, 4 years full-time course with the University of Malta.  For my BSc thesis, I was inspired by supervisor [[Prof. Alfred Cuschieri (Geneticist)|http://staff.um.edu.mt/acus1/MedicalGenetics.html]] and [[Mr Martin Ward|http://www.mwprof-development.com]], who both helped me in generating an interesting research question and in conducting my study in a well needed area. My BSc thesis investigated the //Educational Needs of Relatives Caring for Patients with Huntington’s disease//. In this dissertation, five focus groups were used augmented with questionnaires that I personally designed and administered in two international conferences (Manchester and Madrid). 

Following my first degree, I completed a 1 year - distance learning course in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy with [[CPPD London|http://www.cppd.co.uk/]]. In this year I developed further my self-awerness, both within the group and also in my work at the Short Stay Psychiatric Unit. 


!Clinical Experience

I worked for 5 years in the only [[Short Stay Psychiatric Unit in Malta|https://ehealth.gov.mt/HealthPortal/health_institutions/hospital_services/mater_dei_hospital/mater_dei.aspx]], where I had the opportunity to deal with several clients suffering from the long spectrum of psychiatric disorders and mental health issues, from psychosis to mild anxieties and phobias. My responsibilities consisted of:

*reporting progress and developments in patient care
*Change Management, being the only RMN working in SSPU for over 2 years (2002 – 2004)
*attending ward rounds
*assisting in ECT’s
*attempting creative approaches to patient management
*assessment and appraisal of patient symptomatology
*family education & group therapy

*suicide prevention and risk assessment
*psycho-education groups
*patient advocacy on an individual & collective basis
*I gained several managerial skills, being in charge of my working shift for 5 years.
